Your 2014 contribution opportunities

If you contribute the maximum basic salary deferral limit, and you qualify for both of the catch-up provisions described below, you have the potential to contribute up to $26,000 to your 403(b) plan during 2014.

  • Basic salary deferral limit: $17,500 in 2014.
  • 403(b) Lifetime Catch-up: You may be eligible to defer up to an additional $3,000.
  • Age 50+ Catch-up: If you are age 50 or older, you may be eligible to defer up to an additional $5,500 in 2014.
  • Total 2014 contribution limit on combined employee/employer contributions: 100% of your includible compensation or $52,000, whichever is less. If the Age 50+ Catch-up applies, the $52,000 increases to $57,500.

How these tools can help you

  • Throughout 2014 to estimate your salary deferral contribution limit for your 403(b) plan, make sure you are on target to maximize your contributions (especially if your pay or other factors have changed), or to make sure your contributions aren't exceeding allowable limits.
